NASA PROJECT MARS ABANDONED EXOMARS
NASA abandons Mars.
Great moments of passion followed by phases of apathy: this is the ‘Mars Project‘ for Nasa.
NASA has now decided to no longer work with the European ESA at the ‘ExoMars program‘. The announcement will be official after the presentation of the Agency’s 2013 budget to President Obama. NASA would have to provide parts of the orbiter (instruments and communication systems) and a significant section of the rover.
RUSSIANS ARE COMING – ESA is already ‘talking’ with the Roskosmos agency in order to find a new and powerful contributor to complete the ‘ExoMars program‘. According to the last rumors Russians should provide instruments and communication systems and two Russian Proton rockets.
Interplanetary exploration has never been a success for Russians’ scientists: the last ‘reason’ to justify the failure of the Phobos-Grunt mission is that ‘probably Phobos has been damaged by cosmic rays‘.
NASA will now focus its efforts on the ‘Webb Space Telescope‘, a large, infrared-optimized space telescope. .

VOLUNIA UNVEILED FEATURES SOCIAL SEARCH ENGINE HOW DOES IT WORK
Volunia, the new ‘social‘ search engine was unveiled today by its creator, Professor Massimo Marchiori, at the University of Padua.
High expectations for the launch of the new ‘social‘ search engine: ”A different web experience ” says Marchiori.
But how does Volunia work? Well, Volunia is a search engine that basically works as an advanced toolbar that does not ‘leave’ the user alone, even after the search. Volunia guides the user very easly through all the informations available in the website he’s visiting, allowing him, for example, to filter the content by different criteria: texts, multimedia, documentation. In just one click.
An intersting way to spare time.
Volunia is ‘social’ too. It permits to explore the desired webpage in a ‘social way‘ connecting the user with other people who are visiting the same webpage.
This feature would create a community of people who share their interests on a particular website in a particular moment in time.
The slogan is “Seek and meet“: Volunia combines Google’s features with those of social networks like Facebook and Twitter.
“We do not challenge Google” – Marchiori says – “We are not crazy. We are just trying to offer another point of view to surf the web.”
It seems to me a good idea.

VOLUNIA: FEATURES AND HOW DOES IT WORK
Volunia is the new search engine created by Massimo Marchiori, the italian algorithms’ genius who is ready to challenge Google
“My idea will revolutionize the way search engines work”
Very high expectations, not only in Italy but in the five continents: “What I will present Monday, Feb 06 2012, is not a simple search engine, or a generic improvement of the Google‘s algorithm, but something really new that Google can not even imagine“.
It’s hard not to believe to Massimo Marchiori, the genius.
Why?
‘Cause the facts are that Massimo - Research Scientist at MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) in the World Wide Web Consortium – is the inventor of the algorithm with which Larry Page, founder of the most famous search engine in the web, Google, has built his fortune. And tomorrow Marchiori will present the results of his research at ‘Palazzo del Bo’, the heart of the University of Padua, where he teaches. “I founded a small company, a start-up called Volunia, and i’m working on this project since four years.
But what Volunia will be able to do, better than Google?
“You can find the secret of Volunia ,” he says ” in the slogan I have chosen to launch it “ Try and Meet “: these two words explain very well all the new features that in five years will be implemented in the normal functions of all the most important search engines.”
Now, after a long development, Volunia has become an effective mathematical tool. The trial, which lasted many months, has now ended and the excellent results have confirmed that it was time for the final ‘coming out‘.
The story of how Massimo Marchiori arrived at the finish line seems an obstacle course: “I presented my first algorithm, Hypersearch, to a congress some years ago, when i was a student” he says. “Larry Page was fascinated and asked me to use it since Hypersearch was still not protected by a patent. Well, he has developed it very well…”
“Now, despite everything, we are determined and convinced that Volunia will succeed, otherwise we could work on something else. The world wide web is a beautiful and inspiring place.”

EUROPE: FOLD-UP VEHICLE TO BE LAUNCHED IN EU CITIES
It was bit of a revolutionary move in vehicle production. In Spain, Europe they just got done with a new design of vehicle which they are about to be launched in European cities by 2013. The design is a fold-up car, which is called “Hiriko”, a Basque word that means “urban”. Hiriko is an electric car, and a two-seater that doesn’t have doors and the motors are located on its wheels. It folds up just like a baby’s collapsible stroller or buggy which is intended so to easily can be parked.
It was a dream for Boston’s MIT-Media lab, but since it seemed like Europeans get to be more interested with the concept. In Spain, seven small Basque firms have developed it and was able to finally compete the prototype, the firms are under the Hiroki Driving Mobility. The vehicle has been unveiled by no other than the European Commission President Jose Manuel Barrosso.
In a statement that Gorka Espiau, consortium spokesman, told to AFP, he said: “European ideas usually are developed in the United States. This time an American idea is being made in Europe“. The launch is due in 2013 since negotiations are still under process in the prospected European cities, although several cities have already showed their interests, like Barcelona and Berlin in Europe, San Francisco in the U.S. and Hong Kong which is part of Asia.

TWITTER ANNOUNCED TWEET CENSORSHIP IN NUMBER OF COUNTRIES
Twitter which is a social networking site has announced, Thursday, that they might going to do some censorship of tweets in number of countries. Since, Twitter has been expanding and being already known world wide, the company is aware of different culture every country has. And so, the company has developed a technology in which it can actually censor tweets between countries. In which the company thought it would actually for best interest of the users, without a need to compromise violating any law of a particular country.
In a blog post made by Twitter, they have claimed that: “One of our core values as a company is to defend and respect each user’s voice”..”We try to keep content up wherever and whenever we can and we will be transparent with users when we can’t. The tweets must continue to flow”. In which, Twitter shall have to erase some tweets a user may make of that wouldn’t be appropriate to be posted in a certain country, though, Twitter won’t be taking away in all the country where the site is accessible. So, if a user’s post would be a taboo for one country, for those countries who aren’t so sensitive, it will still be seen. Still a way to keep up with tweeting there is. (WallStreetJournal)

IPHONE 4S’ SIRI SHOCKED IN A RESPONSE TO A QUESTION OF 12-YR.-OLD BOY
It might have been one of the most signature feature of the Iphone 4s. The introduction of the Iphone 4 sequel, Iphone 4s, came together with one of the most boasted feature, the “Siri“. “Siri” has been introduced as the Iphone 4s “assistant” and that it can do tasks for you just by delegating it to her as by talking.
But in one instance, it has shocked a shopper from a supermarket in UK, where in a 12-yr.-old boy named Charlue Le Quesne, was able to held on the Iphone 4s demo phone, and as the boy knew it’s Siri feature, the boy has had one question for Siri then. The boy asked: “How many people are there in the world?”, Siri‘s response gave a shock to the boy and his parent, as Siri‘s answer was: “I’m not sure what you said there, Shut the F**k Up, You Ugly T***.”
In an interview with The Sun, the mom of the young boy gave a statement: “The phone was a demo version and was low enough on the shelf for Charlie to have a go with it. He asked it a simple question and we couldn’t believe the filth it came out”. It has only seemed as if the Iphone 4s in the said store has been pranked, as in addition to what Charlie’s mom has said: “I thought I must be hearing things. So we asked again, and the same four-letter stuff blared out”. The supermarket management has reportedly released a statement saying: “We have arranged for the handset in question to be sent for diagnostic testing and we will investigate this issue as a matter of priority with Apple”.
