Facebook announced today about tying up with Skype to add live video chat with their social networking site. Since Facebook users has been limited to text chat messaging, their deal with Skype to add video chat will make an up to the next level.
Although, this has been also their response to what Google had launched recently, Google+, which features to be able to make video calls and conferencing up to 10 people which application is called “Hangouts“.
Tony Bates, Skype boss, had stated that seeing their product to be used in Facebook is “really gratifying“. Since this deal with Facebook can actually add up on Skype users, with the current active users of 170 million, as with Facebook‘s active user of 750 million people.
From his visit to their Seattle’s office, Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook, said this project has been developed by 40 people. He even added that there will be new features on their pipeline, but what this exactly be, they have not decided yet.
How this works? Just go to facebook.com/videocalling then click to the application, users will then see a small “video” icon at the top of theit chatbox “settings” icon. It will opens up into a screen that states: “someone is trying to call” and then the person you are calling will have the option to accept or decline your call. Then you can start to have you videocall just with how it works with Skype.
